Midnight Mass [24 Dec 2008|08:24pm]
[ mood | apathetic ]

So after much debating I'm going to a midnight service. Not exactly Mass as I'm going to St. Paul's Cathedral for an Anglican service.

Should be interesting if I can get my butt up and moving to go in two hours.

So I'm loving London. I have a job, my classes are great, I'm meeting a lot of people, and it's all going very well... I have nothing else to say about that except that any and all are invited to come visit... yay...

on to greater things...

I'm voting NO to Amendment 2, to define marriage as between a man and a woman, and think that this should not be tolerated. I'm sorry I don't think that anyone should be denied their rights because they do not fall under an idealistic prescription of 'love' get over it you half assed bigots. Any and all opinions can be directed at me, thought I doubt there is any opinion that would make me be tolerant of others opinions...

You don't have to like it to be respectful of the person.

Bitchy mood... ^_^ [07 May 2008|10:10pm]
[ mood | annoyed ]

This was in response to this quote from an article:

A day after the Indiana and North Carolina primaries bolstered Sen. Barack Obama's candidacy, Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-California and a superdelegate, said she wants to talk to Clinton to "see what her view is on the rest of the race. What the strategy is."

Feinstein, who described herself as "very loyal" to Clinton, said "the question comes whether she can get the delegates that she needs and I'd like to know what the strategy is to do that."

It was the democratic party who was calling foul play when the supreme court stopped the recount in 2000 but now in the upcoming democratic primaries there are actually super-delegates who want to see Hilary form a strategy by winning through basically bought votes *because guess what that's basically what I consider super-delegates, they will give up their vote to get what they want.  Yay democracy... who really needs it apparently.

I feel like the democratic party would shoot itself in the foot if it decides to swing candidates to Hilary even though she isn't winning the elections. Would it really be representative of the democratic party if Hilary won the candidacy? From what I've seen no, Obama's been winning the votes in the primaries and the superdelegates should realize that.  Guess what these people voting now are the same people who have to vote in about 6 months, and you never know what they might do if the party basically says screw your vote we're picking our own candidate through the super-delegates. I have no love for politicians who have a control over the candidates for presidency just because of their standing in the Democratic party. The members of your party have spoken, and they're voting for Obama I think that this would cause a further rift in the Democratic party if they pull a stunt like this.

I'm not even a democrat and I'm disgusted by this.

But I'm firmly opposed to Hilary...  She needs to get out now, there is no glory in winning through super-delegates its basically like slapping the faces of all the voters because she's saying it doesn't matter if I'm the candidate the people want I'm the candidate the party wants *and if that's the case the democratic party may as well host McCain's victory party themselves*

Next I think Hilary is whack, so she wants universal health care.  Great, are we just going to jump in start paying for everything and to hell with the consequences.  And one of the main things is that this is not something that can be accomplished even if she was a two term president, our system is not socialized enough to implement it.  Get a good health care plan, start by regulating the health care industry and insurance;  regulate the prices on health care, and stipulate that if the doctor/hospital doesn't comply they loose their accredidation.   Force the prices down and then regulate the plans of insurance companies.  At least a move like this would make it possible for the future of universal health care, except that with this option you can have different levels of health care and if someone wants to pay more for certain elective services, or wants the operation done by a specialist they can pay a little more.  That way there is still a level of commerce as well as a way to make it possible for everyone to afford health care.  And for fuck's sake get rid of medical malpractice, in it's place use the insurace claims department for something they are already trained to do pick through cases and deny them.  Stop denying people health care and start denying the ability for every tom, dick and Harry to be able to sue because a doctor made a mistake, because guess what it happens.  It's not fair for a doctor to loose millions because of human error, suck it up and move on *I'm heartless Iknow but really people if the doctor did it because they were drunk that's negligence, if they did it because guess what they have a hard job and the unexpected happens no I don't think you deserve millions in a medical malpractice suit*  I have more on this but I don't feel like flushing it all out right now.

On to Oil companies... piss off get a life, and start paying attention to the demand and supply curve.  Just in case any news media is interested the price of Oil lately has been based on speculation, not actual market forces.  The oil companies like you to believe we are running out of oil (and yes I whole heartedly support the change to ethanol but at the rate this country is going we'll be on ethanol some where around 3000 A.D.), but guess what there are untapped sources all over the world.  So they make the market believe that and so they drive up prices, but guess what at the same time they've been loosing profits.  Why?  Because the demand for Oil has actually gone down in this country because people are trying to not use their cars.  But instead of the oil prices going down they are going up, and it has turned into a case of taking advantage.  Demand is down... so the invisible hand says (yes I love Adam Smith) the price of gas should go down... but oh wait here are those pesky oil companies they look at the speculators.  Who really don't look at demand or the market forces I've discovered because they are saying Oil should go up.  Let's be honest if I was speculating oil and looking at the current crises in the US I'd be going in my head well if the country goes into remission we are going to take a huge loss because people are going to try and save every penny.  People will stop taking trips which cause them to need large amounts of gas, people will stop buying unnecessary crap which guess what all have an exponential affect on the oil market.  So I would say oil needs to go lower because in the end we will lose demand and lose a large market if the US goes into remission.

Speculators are idiots, oh wait so is the democratic party super-delegates... two for one today.

I think I'm done for now...
